CD4E - The 4-speed gearbox appeared in 1994 and was installed in Mazda (626, Tribute, MX6) and Ford (Probe, Mondeo, Escape and Fiesta) cars with front-wheel drive and engines from 2.0 l to 2.5 l. Mazda used the name LA4A-EL, while Ford used the name CD4E, and after several updates of this gearbox, the name was changed to 4F44E. The CD4E was produced until 2007 and was a quite competitive automatic transmission in terms of price to quality ratio.
