AODE - The 4-speed gearbox appeared on the market in 1993 as a modification of the AOD gearbox - the letter "E" was added to the name, which meant that the gearbox was modernized to the electronic version. In 1995, further modifications were introduced and at the same time its name was changed to 4R70W. Then in 2003 the gearbox received a new modification package and a new name 4R75W.

4R70W, 4R70E - 4-speed modification of the AODE gearbox from 1995. Due to problems with the durability of the intermediate basket one-way clutch, changes were made in 1998 to increase its strength and extend its service life.

4R75W, 4R75E - the 2003 modification was distinguished by a stronger gear, which had 24 cams instead of 6, an input shaft sensor (OSS), a new converter and an improved pump. The 4R75W, thanks to all these modernizations, showed better shifting and more power, while at the same time greater efficiency and economy.
