0AW / VL380 / VL381

0AW - The 8-speed continuously variable transmission was released by Audi in 2004. Fitted to AWD models (Audi A3, A4, A5, A6, A7) with petrol engines with a capacity of 1.8L to 3L. It is the successor to the 01J gearbox. VL381 is a modification produced in 2007. There are many differences between the 0AW and 01J and they have few spare parts (friction discs, steel, etc.). The principle of operation is the same. The electrics and controller have been significantly improved in 0AW. It transmits very high torque for a CVT gearbox, up to 400 Nm.
