AW55-50SN - The AW55-50SN 5-speed gearbox was developed at the end of the last century as an exclusive 5-speed automatic transmission for non-Toyota FWD vehicles with engines ranging from 2 to 3 liters. After updating the valve controller and computer settings, this box as AF23 and AF33 was installed in GM models: Daewoo-Chevrolet (Captiva, Epica, Laketti), Saab, Opel and the American Saturn and Suzuki. Tests of this gearbox have been carried out since 2000 in Volvo cars (in the C70 models, both 40 and 70, as well as the S60 and S80). Some of the design solutions of this gearbox were taken over from its successful predecessor - the 4-speed AW50-40. The gearbox proved so successful that even its competitors installed the AW55 in their popular cars, while simultaneously releasing the RE5R05A (JR507E) (Nissan-Jatco) and 5L40E/5L50E (GM-Europa) models.
