AW50-40LE, AF14 - The Aisin Warner 4-speed hydraulically controlled automatic transmission AW50-40 was designed in the 1990s for well-known middle-class "family" vehicles with a 2-liter engine: Renault Laguna, Volvo C70, Saab, Opel, Kia and Daewoo . This box can be easily recognized by its bowl shape. According to GM classification, this gearbox is called AF14. The AW50-40LE version has enlarged hubs, drums, one-way clutches and planetary gears to transmit higher torque. In 1998, a new modification AW50-42LE (AF22) was released, which extended the use of this gearbox to engines with a capacity of up to 3.0 liters.

AW50-42LE, AF22 - 
AF22 (the American name of this gearbox model for Opel) was released in 1998. and was intended to work with engines up to 3.0L. This model of gearbox had larger drums, hubs, planetary gears, one-way clutches, etc. to transmit higher torque. Hyundai fitted the 50-42LE to the 1.3L in the i30, while Daewoo used the box in its Lanos models.
